Amalfi Hotel is situated in the historic centre of the city of Amalfi. Amalfi Hotel stands in a cool and dry place in the very centre of the town at a few metres distance from the Arab-Norman Cathedral overlooking the main square from its imposing flight of steps. Amalfi Hotel is close to the beaches and the cities of Naples, Capri and Positano, as well as from the bus terminals.
A charming cluster of pastel houses, shops, cafés and watchtowers, Amalfi seems little more than a village. However it was a great naval power and a wealthy trading republic in medieval times. Its dramatic setting in jagged cliffs cloaked in vineyards is best seen from a boat. Amalfi’s star turn is a gorgeous cathedral with great bronze doors and lacy cloisters. The nearby village of Atrani is quiet and pretty, with a fine Byzantine church.
Approximate driving time from Naples Airport (NAP) to Amalfi Hotel is 90 minutes and distance is 70 kilometres (45 miles). Taxis are available from outside the airport. Alternatively regular buses and ferries run from Naples to Amalfi. Salemo central station is 25 kilometres from the hotel. |
